Starch silo – starch storage system

Application

Starch silo is designated for storing the starch flour, and its wor- king capacity is 10 000 tons. The silo can be accompanied by the raw material loading, unloading and pneumatic transport installations.

Description
Silo is a vertical cylinder-shaped tank with a diameter of 27m and total height of 35.74m. The main construction component – the silo walls – are made of steel sheets coated with rock wool and covered with corrugated aluminum sheets. Additional components which are part of the entire silo are an external staircase with a gallery, and an inside communication tower. Starch storing system includes the silo, pneumatic transport installation of both loading and unloading the silo.
Inside the technological shaft there is a freight/people lift, a staircase, all the technological and electrical connections, and controlling. In the engine room there are systems for dosing dry goods, weighing tanks, rotary feeders. The following devices have been used for the pneumatic transport:
• Fuller pumps (high-pressure pump)
• air blower
• cyclone system
• pipelines and fixture.
Product even distribution in the silo is ensured by the screw
conveyor moving along the tank perimeter. Unloading is
performed with the very same conveyor, but moving the
other direction, transporting the product to the Fuller pump
from which it is pneumatically transported outside of the
silo.
